Meteor shower spoiled by clouds

Astronomers across Britain stayed up late on Wednesday in the hope of seeing a dazzling display of shooting stars.

The annual Perseid meteor shower reached its peak in the early hours of Thursday morning.

However, cloudy skies in the south meant some people were disappointed.
