Wildlife experts in France are calling for pet shops to be banned from selling a small Asian rodent, the Siberian chipmunk.
Tens of thousands of the animals have been found living in woods around Paris - many carrying the potentially debilitating Lyme disease.
The chipmunks were first imported from east Asia in the 1970s, but it is thought that over the years many were released into the wild by owners who had grown tired of their pets.
