Apollo 13: Astronauts in danger

Nasa's third planned mission to the moon changed drastically after an explosion destroyed two fuel cells in the spacecraft's service module.

The incident crippled Apollo 13's main power supply and left oxygen and water reserves critically low.

The spacecraft performed a "slingshot" around the Moon, before firing its last remaining booster engine to push it out of the Moon's orbit and bring it back on course to Earth.
