'Deceptive' scrub jays hide food

Scientists have found that Western scrub jays pay special attention to how they store food when in the presence of other birds.

If they think another bird is watching, they will move their food around or even pretend to move it around.

Researchers believe this is possibly a confusion tactic to make it harder for the observer to remember where the food is and hence prevent thieving.
