Baby chick looks for hidden ball

Baby birds can do arithmetic, say researchers in Italy.

In this footage, watch a baby chick hunt for a hidden ball in an experiment developed to investigate the chick behaviour.

The test shows how the young chick will follow a familiar object, seeking out the ball when it is hidden from view.

Subsequent experiments revealed how the chicks can add and subtract objects as they were moved behind two screens.
