Leap second: Slowing down Big Ben


Paul Roberson is a clockmaker at the Palace of Westminster.

He explains how the palace's world-famous Great Clock, for which Big Ben is the bell, will be slowed down for one second on New Year's Eve using old pennies.

This will reconcile the clock time with the time created by the Earth's rotational movement.
