Successful first day for LHC

Scientists have hailed as a success the start of an experiment to recreate conditions a few moments after the "Big Bang".

The Large Hadron Collider was started up on Wednesday morning, and beams have been sent in both directions around the 27km-tunnel, something scientists were not expecting to happen so quickly.
