Hi there, I'm Ricky from the BBC World News for Schools. It's Monday the 14th of February.
The footballing great Ronaldo retires!
There's record snow fall in South Korea.
And Lady Gaga travels to the Grammys in an egg!
First, people in Egypt are enjoying a bank holiday following President Mubarak's resignation on Friday. Most of the protestors in Egypt's capital, Cairo have gone home and the army is now in charge. They promise there will be elections in six months time, but some protestors have decided to keep demonstrating - they want the army to know that they won't settle for anything less than a democratic system.....
CLIP: "We don't want the army to take over. We want them just to stand guard, as the people demand from the army to execute their demands."
The military are telling them to go home or risk being arrested.
Next, China has overtaken Japan as the world's second richest country! Experts reckon that at the rate China's going, in ten years time it could be the richest country in the world! One of the big reason China's doing so well is that its factories are producing more products than ever before. It's not all good news for China though, even though the country is making a lot of money, poverty is still a big problem and on average people there earn far less than people in Japan do.
Staying in East Asia, parts of South Korea are seeing more snow than at any other time in the last 100 years! More than a metre fell at the weekend over Gangwon province on the eastern coast. Some buildings collapsed under the weight, drivers were stranded in their vehicles and thousands of soldiers had to be called on for help.
Next, one of the world's greatest ever footballers has retired. Brazil's Ronaldo had a glittering career. Not only has he scored more World Cup goals in a single tournament than any other player, he was also named world footballer of the year three times! To top it all off he helped his country win two World Cup's, in1994 and 2002 . So, a lot of highlights to choose from, but this World Cup final goal against Germany has to be up there...
CLIP: "Rivaldo is coming, Ronaldo! It's two-nil and Ronaldo is rampant now."
And that was one of two Ronaldo goals in that final game, giving Brazil their 5th World Cup title. What a record!
And for today's question we want to know what team Ronaldo started his career with?
Now, over in LA, in America, it was a night of surprises at music awards - The Grammys. Teen sensation, Justin Bieber missed out on the best new artist prize, with the award going to Jazz musician, Esperanza Spelding . And Lady Gaga decided to make a big entrance... In an egg! Yep, the superstar was carried down the red carpet in an egg-shaped cocoon and went on to pick up 3 awards, including best pop vocal album...
CLIP: "I had this dream when I was really young that I could be whoever I wanted to be. And no matter what I visioned for myself, that I would do it no matter who didn't believe in me."
OK, that's all from the World News for Schools team. We're back tomorrow.
