Hi there, I'm Ore from the BBC World News for Schools. It's Thursday the 3rd of February.

Coming up:

  • Violent clashes overnight in Egypt.
  • Liverpool's new boy gets off to a flying start.
  • And Justin Bieber's movie gets its New York premiere.

First - In Egypt, officials say five people have been killed and more than 800 injured after a night of intense fighting in the capital, Cairo. Supporters of the President - Hosni Mubarak clashed with protesters, who want him to resign after almost 30 years in power.

CLIP: FX of clashes.

The army say they are working to keep the two groups apart, but this protestor says they are not stopping peaceful protestors from being attacked....

CLIP: " When violence took place the army didn't do anything. People were shooting guns at the anti-Mubarak protestors and the army were just shooting guns in the air to kind of scare those who have guns away."

Some demonstrators say the President's paying people to crush the protests against him - but his supporters say that's not true.

Elsewhere in the Middle East there's been a big demonstration in Yemen, against the President Ali Abdullah Saleh - with more that 20,000 taking to the streets of the country's capital city, in protest.

Next up - one of the most powerful storms ever recorded in Australia has hit the state of Queensland, with 300 km an hour winds ripping along the states north coast. Luckily, no one is reported to have been seriously injured, but two people are missing and it was a pretty scary night for people in worst hit towns - like Penny Gross from Ravenshoe...

CLIP: "It was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. The roaring sound was like nothing on Earth. You hear bang and crash and trees going over and it's pitch black because the power's out."

Footie news now and Liverpool may have said goodbye to Fernando Torres, but if Luis Sua-rez debut performance is anything to go by, they could have a new star player....

CLIP: "Is this the moment for Louis Suarez? Of the line and lift off for Louis Suarez!"

The new signing came off the bench to score in a 2-nil win against Stoke City - making his new boss, Kenny Dalglish pretty happy....

CLIP: For Louis Suarez to score in his forst game, it will not do hiom any harm what so ever. I think we've got a bit of exitement to look forward to."

Screaming fans crammed onto the streets of New York last night to catch a glimpse of Justin Bieber. There was a special screening of his new movie. It's all about his journey from internet hit to global superstar. These fans were pretty happy!

CLIP: "I love Justin Bieber because when he sings it makes me happy." "If his limo turns up, maybe we can run over there perhaps - get a little sneakyclose-up."

Before we go we just have time to tell you that it's Chinese new year - according to the Chinese calendar that means it's the year of a certain animal, but which one? Yesterday we asked you how many centuries there are in a millennium and the answer is......10!

OK, that's all from the World News for Schools team. We're back tomorrow.
