Homeless shelter in California begins charging residents

With California's jobless rate at 12.3% its homeless shelters have seen a rapid growth in use.

One shelter in Los Angeles has begun to charge some people to sleep there, asking those who can to contribute $7 (£4.50) per night.

The BBC's Rajesh Mirchandani paid it a visit to find out whether the new system is working for the shelter and its residents.
