Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai is visiting Washington, on a mission to convince Americans that his country is not a lost cause.

The visit will involve four days of talks aimed at repairing the increasingly strained relationship between Mr Karzai and his US allies.

The Afghans want to address the issue of civilians being killed by foreign troops, but US officials are likely to tackle Mr Karzai on corruption.

Kim Ghattas reports from Washington.
