Capturing disaster through photography

During wars and natural disasters it is often one searing photograph that captures the raw emotion and drama better than anything else.

It is those iconic images that photographer Matt McDermott has taken around the world and most recently in the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti.

In this First Person account, the New York based photojournalist talks about his experiences and the stories behind some of his most memorable photographs.
