Open eyes in the job market

Rob Cottrell has a degree in finance from College of William and Mary. On graduation day, Rob thought there was a defined career path that he had to go on.

"The economy forced me to open up my eyes a bit more and say 'there are other jobs in this industry,'" said Rob. "It's not just going to New York and working on Wall Street."

In May, he was hoping for a job opportunity in Chile but an offer from ING came first, said Rob, who now works in Cleveland.

He is happy with his responsibilities, which often take him on the road to meet clients. But he misses his friends who are mostly spread around the East Coast.

"Facebook and cell phones only go so far," said Rob.
