The new world 'map'

For millennia Europeans believed that the world consisted of three parts: Europe, Africa and Asia.

In 1507 that idea was turned on its head when the Waldseemuller Map showed a separate continent labelled as America.

The story of the map is now the basis of a new book called "The Fourth Part of the World". We spoke to the author Toby Lester.
