In World News America's signature series "First Person," people from all walks of life tell their own stories in their own words.

Standing just yards from the White House the Old Ebbitt Grill has been a favourite watering hole for more than a century. And on the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue the Hawk and Dove draws in the crowd from Capitol Hill.

The managers of the two institutions give their unique perspective on a town which sees more than its fair share of changes.
