Judge the poet spins us a verse
|
Thursday was national poetry so we invited Judge to write a topical rhyme for us during the programme. We gave him three words: 'DeAnne' (economist DeAnne Julius was our guest), 'spending' and 'bankers'. And he created this little gem:
When things are not exactly going according to plan,
We look, hopefully, to great experts just like DeAnne.
People like Ms Julius of this moment must be the siezer,
And, maybe, they'll turn out to be a crowd-pleaser!
Ordinary people, now, really need some defending,
When they're worrying about mortgages and spending.
I have not heard too many people loudly laugh
Because interest rates were cut by just one half.
Out there, real people are actually starting to hurt,
Even local councils, on Icesave, managed to bet their shirt!
And don't mention the price of oil in all those tankers,
Now, we look pleadingly to a load of bankers!
