Gary Webster says he has renounced his spendthrift ways
Watch: Interview with Gary
Surely celebrities don't have to worry about credit card debts and bank loans?

For a while, actor Gary Webster, known for his appearances in Minder, Family Affairs and The Bill, worried about nothing else.

Years of regular income from his TV roles meant Gary and his wife Wendy Turner got used to a comfortable, free spending lifestyle.

But when a switch to theatre work left a hole in his income, Gary realised that he'd failed to put anything aside for a rainy day.

Bankrupt

After a period of doing his best to ignore the problem, Gary had no alternative but to go bankrupt.

He says he has spent the last few years acquiring the financial skills to never face the same situation again.

He has now written a book about his experiences to encourage others to confront their debts before it is too late.

"Debt is no longer a four-letter word... my book is out there to encourage people to talk about it," he told Working Lunch.
