LOST SHARES
Lost shares
If you think you owned shares but can't remember the details or have lost the paperwork, you can get in touch with the three leading registrars for shares: Computershare, Equiniti and Capita.
They'll do the search for you and, with any luck, turn up the evidence you need.
For life assurance policies, the ABI recommends the Unclaimed Assets Register. It costs £25 to search for life assurance and pension policies.

Advice for SpeedFerries customers:
1. Check your booking - If it was made through a travel agent you may have more rights.
2. Contact your card provider - If you paid by credit card and the transaction was more than £100 you should be protected.
3. Make other arrangements. Some rival firms have offers for SpeedFerries customers. For example LD lines is offering a 75% discount but only from Portsmouth or Newhaven, whereas Norfolkline will offer a 20% discount between Dover and Dunkerque.
