My goodness how things have moved on since then, how many more names have been through the mill, and all the while the esteem of MPs among the public has sunk ever lower. On Wednesday the Kelly recommendations will, at last, be published, and according to initial comments from the party leaders accepted in full. Leaks so far suggest a number of contentious suggestions, among them: a ban on MPs claiming for mortgages on second homes and from employing family members. And the proposal that all MPs with constituencies within "reasonable commuting distance of Westminster", say a 60 minutes train ride to London will not be allowed to claim support for a second home. We asked the Political Editor for the Independent, Andrew Grice, which proposals he thought were likely to prove most contentious?
