The jurisdiction of Scotland's Government stops at the banks of the river Tweed.

But that hasn't stopped it from championing an African nation with historical ties to Scotland.

That nation is Malawi, one of the poorest countries in Africa.

Does the interest of Scotland's political class represent a new kind of imperialism or a chance for Scotland to atone for its ambiguous colonial past?
