Britain's White House

A quarter of a century ago, many in the Labour Party began to argue it was unacceptable that in a multiracial Britain not a single Member of Parliament came from an ethnic minority.

But it's a little known fact that it was actually more than a hundred years ago that the first ethnic minority politician was elected to Parliament, as the Labour MP and Transport Minister Sadiq Khan now explains in a new series of the Sunday Supplement.

He begins part one of 'Britain's White House.' in the Palace of Westminster with art curator, Malcolm Hay.
