For the first time in a decade John Prescott hasn't been running the country while the Prime Minister takes his summer holidays.

Since Tony Blair's successor has barely taken a holiday it hardly seems to matter.

Indeed, Gordon Brown has decided he doesn't need a deputy Prime Minister.
