This year's French presidential elections are being described as the most important in decades.

In a new series of The Sunday Supplement, Plus Ca Change, the writer and broadcaster Nick Fraser explains why many in France believe their country ought to undergo a Thatcherite revolution.

The series begins with a special family dinner.

In Part Two Nick Fraser examines the nature of Republicanism in France and explains why anger against politicians has turned the French into a nation of protestors.

In the final part of the series Nick Fraser focuses on French culture and calls for it to turn away from a narrow national agenda and become universal once again.
