Anita Anand joined The Daily Politics in 2008
|
As well as The Daily Politics, Anita presents the flagship current affairs programme 'Drive' on BBC Radio 5 Live. You can hear her everyday from 4pm - 7pm.
Before that, she presented the Anita Anand Show, also on Radio 5 Live, a late night programme, where anything could - and usually did - happen. Apart from the usual news diet, Radio Tango lessons and an studio take over by Sith lord Darth Vader were all in a week's work.
She has anchored The World Today and Outlook on BBC World Service.
Before joining the BBC, Anita was the European Head of News & Current Affairs for Zee TV - an international satellite and cable television station.
She was one of the youngest TV news editors in the country, taking over the reins at the age of just 25.
Her overseas work includes covering the Pakistani elections, tracking India's most wanted criminal in Portugal and reporting the earthquake in Bhuj.
She presented the Sunday morning Heaven and Earth on BBC ONE.
Writing has also been Anita's passion, and she has been a columnist for India Today and The Asian Age newspaper as well as the Guardian.
While a student at London University, Anita was awarded Feature Writer Of The Year by the Guardian Young Journalist of the Year Awards.
She was also a winner of an Independent Newspaper bursary.
Anita was appointed a Governor of Thames Valley University in 2002, a job she was greatly proud of for the two years she did it.
In her spare time, she likes nothing more than to potter around a kitchen. She is rather proud of her savouries but her baked goods are an unmitigated disaster.
