Sir Ian Blair speaks against elected police chiefs

Former Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair explains why he is against elected police chiefs amid fears of "operational independence".

But policing minister Nick Herbert said the proposed role would build bridges between police and the communities they serve.
