Simon Hughes: 'I hope we don't have a VAT increase'

Liberal Democrat deputy leader Simon Hughes was quizzed on a potential VAT increase in the Budget, as his party attacked such a rise ahead of the general election.

He told Jo Coburn: 'I hope we don't have a VAT increase' but declined to say whether he would vote against such a rise.

He was also quizzed about Capital Gains Tax, VAT on houses, tuition fees and general tax policies by the coalition government.
