Former Swedish Prime Minister Göran Persson advises the UK to get on and start making cuts to help the economy.
Mr Persson was in Yorkshire for the conference of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.
He told Andrew Neil about the drastic programme of cuts and tax increases in Sweden in the 1990s, which he said did not make him popular but he 'gained respect'.
