What do 'parent support advisors' do?

Children's secretary Ed Balls announced in 2007 there would be more of a new breed of educators in classrooms in England - not to educate the children, but their parents.

Are the Parent Support Advisors a help, or yet another extending tentacle of the nanny state? Adam Fleming reports from a school in east London.
