Are libraries still relevant today?
Fewer people are borrowing from libraries with the internet and access to cheap books offering an attractive alternative to flicking through the volumes at the local library.
So are the institutions, which were instrumental in helping widen access to education, still relevant today? Anne Alexander reports.
