Five years young

FIVE YEARS OF DAILY POLS
Daily Politics original titles 2003

For our fifth birthday, we'd like to ask you for the gift of feedback.

2003 was a remarkable year in politics. Tony Blair took us to war with Iraq; Arnie became Governor of California; another Tory leader - this time Iain Duncan Smith - resigned; it was bye bye to Concorde - and England won the Rugby World Cup.

But most earth-shatteringly of all, five years ago today, a new kind of political programme was born. We think you can guess his its name...

On today's show, we celebrated with a montage [see box on right] showing you how the team has changed since we first started - when we were only on air three days a week and there was no Giles, not even Jenny - and certainly no repeat showings on BBC Parliament!

YOUR HIGHLIGHTS (AND LOWLIGHTS)

THE WAY WE WERE

The development is part of the BBC's revamp of its political output which has seen the corporation increase coverage and boost programme funding by £5m.

The revamp is intended to increase the number of people watching and engaging actively with the democratic process.

But we'd also like you to tell us your favourite Daily Politics moments.

Viewers of an attentive frame of mind may recall the days when the show included a Parliamentary Doctor ("helping people get action on the issues they want sorted"), a role filled by both Kate Hoey and George Osborne, who went on to become Shadow Chancellor, recipient of our Toad Of The Week award and a favourite in our Fantasy Facebook feature.

You can see some of our archive in the list on the right, or by browsing through the BBC Programme Catalogue to find forgotten items like Six Of The Best, Dream Cabinet or Ask Daisy - or you can just use your memory!

And if you really must, you can also share with us your lowlights, too!
