Local GPs

If you are concerned that you may have a form of sleep apnoea and wish to be screened for it, you should consult your GP or your local NHS Sleep Clinic.

A medical diagnostics firm which conducted the two-year study of HGV drivers featured in Real Story.

Sleep Apnoea Trust

A charity of unpaid volunteers working to improve the lives of sleep apnoea patients, their partners and their families.

Health and Safety Executive

HSE are responsible for the regulation of almost all the risks to health and safety arising from work activity in Britain. They can advise on good practice as well as on statutory requirements.

DVLA

If you have a medical condition which has become worse since your driving licence was issued or you develop a new medical condition, you must inform the Drivers Medical Group.

Roadpeace

Provides support and advocacy for bereaved and injured road victims. Promotes public awareness of the dangers of negligent and reckless driving. Works with government and police to make our roads safer for all users. Campaigns for justice for crash victims.

Welsh Sleep Apnoea Society

This group does not provide medical advice. Its aim is to promote the understanding of breathing and sleep disorders.

Scottish Association for Sleep Apnoea

SASA's aims are to increase public and professional understanding of sleep-related disorders and to reduce driving accidents and other problems associated with untreated sleep disorders.

Sleep Matters/ Insomnia self help group

An insomnia self-help group manages by the Medical Advisory service. It can give support to those who have not been referred to Sleep Clinics by their G. The Medical Advisory Service mans telephone support lines which provide help on a wide variety of health-related topics.

Natural Sleep Foundation

This group attempts to find the cause of sleeplessness and address the cause without the use of drugs. It can give information and support on daytime tiredness. they also offer a referral service if a medical cause is found.

NAPPS (Narcolepsy Action for Positive & Practical Solutions)

NAPPS is a support group based in the UK providing support, advice and information for narcoleptics and other groups and individuals wishing to learn more about the condition.

British Lung Foundation

Campaigning for positive change in lung health.
