Twenty years after sashaying onto international dance floors with the club anthem It's Over Now, singer Ultra Nate is still recording, embracing sounds including R&B, hip-hop, soul, disco, house and electro-pop.
Ultra is best known for her international hit single Free, which entered the top 10 in several countries in 1997 reached number 1 in the Spanish and Italian charts.
Ultra's music education began in the late 1980s while she was studying medicine.
When not buried in books, she discovered the local nightclub scene where she met music producers, the Basement Boys.
After a night of dancing, Ultra went back to their studio and, before the sun had a chance to rise, wrote and sang the lyrics for what would become her first single.
Ultra has collaborated with numerous artists including Nona Hendryx, Lenny Kravitz and Destiny's Child's Michelle Williams, as well as producers including 4 Hero, D-Influence, Attica Blues and Morgan Page.
Ultra is currently working on her eighth album, Hero Worship, which is due for release in late 2010 / early 2011. She is also a songwriter, producer, DJ, a club promoter and the owner of labels BluFire and Deep Sugar.
