Businesswoman, socialite and former diplomat Nora Sun has an impressive family lineage.
She is the granddaughter Sun-Yet-sen, the first President of the People's Republic of China and her mother, Lan-ni, was a famous beauty and legendary woman about town in Shanghai in the 1930s and 40s.
Born in the city, Nora moved to Taiwan and then to the US where she married and raised three children before enrolling at university. She is a graduate of the University of Arizona and Babson College, Massachusetts.
In 1986, Nora began a career in the US diplomatic service. She has served as trade consul in the US ministry of commerce and as trade counsellor in the US consulates in Shanghai, Paris and Guangzhou in southern China.
Nora later set up her own consultancy company, which she co-owns with her son.
She is now President of Nora Sun Associates, a firm specializing in business formation, government relations and management consulting in China.
