The 110 kilometre subway or 'Tunnelbana' in Stockholm is often referred to as the longest art exhibition in the world. Ninety stations have been adorned with a wide variety of work in the form of sculpture, mosaics, painting and installation.

Artists have created a living art exhibition which is seen by thousands of people every day. At Kungstradgaden (or Kings Garden) station, travellers are given the chance to go back in time and visit the Makalos Palace, once located in the vicinity but destroyed by fire.

The artist Urik Samuelson designed the platforms, escalator and ticket hall of the station in 1977.
