New series, new host - meet Tim

The Politics Show for Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the North Midlands returns to our screens on Sunday lunchtimes with Tim Iredale moving into the presenter's hot seat.

Tim is now one of the country's most experienced political broadcasters.

Brought up in West Yorkshire his career as a journalist in print, radio and television has taken him to the extremes of the country - from Scotland to the West Country and many points in between.

Hull-based Tim is already a familiar face on the programme with his hard-hitting reports from East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

In many countries, being locked in a badly-ventilated room and deprived of sleep is called torture - in political circles it's called election night

"It's an area which is home to some of our most familiar political heavyweights," says Tim. "John Prescott, Alan Johnson and David Davis are MPs here."

In the week he reports regularly on Look North from Hull and the BBC local radio stations Radio Humberside and Radio Lincolnshire.

"In many countries, being locked in a badly-ventilated room and deprived of sleep is called torture - In political circles it's called election night," says Tim.

Tim returned to "God's own county" when he was offered a job at Yorkshire Television.

At YTV, Tim began to specialise in politics where he presented the station's weekly programme from Westminster. In 2006 he switched sides and came to the BBC.

Another familiar face will be out on the road every week broadcasting live from the Politics Show satellite truck.

Len Tingle has been the programme's roving reporter since it was launched and has broadcast from back yards, allotments, street corners, churches, Sunday markets and even a circus tent.

Len, who originally comes from Barnsley, is another highly experienced journalist who has reported from many parts of the world.

Now based at the BBC studios in Leeds, Len also reports on political issues for the regional edition of Look North and the BBC's Local Radio stations in Leeds, York and Sheffield.

"Political issues are on your doorstep and not just confined to Westminster, Brussels or even the Town Hall," says Len.
