International Author, Sir Terry Pratchett, has been diagnosed with a form of Alzheimers. He says the new guidelines do not go far enough.
There has been opposition to the guidelines, including from the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children, a pro-life group.
"It's the beginning of the slippery slope for people who want to commit suicide and who want to support them in that act," says Chris Brennan, from the Bristol branch.
