i have been born and raised in Corby, it is a shame that politicians in the town speak of the wonderful mix of cultures in the town without asking what Corby people think. these are people that I speak to every day none of whom think it is wonderful all of whom think that we are getting the short end of the stick, things like are children missing out in the class room because the teacher has to spend the whole lesson helping a child who can not spaek English why can't there be classes where imigrants learn a basic level of English before joining main stream school so that they have an understanding before joing our schools this is not a racist view because it will help them as soon as they join are schools as well as are children not missing out on the help and support and basic taeching that they are untitled too as well.
Anon, England

i have lived in corby all my life and i am Not from scotish decent my relatives came from worcstershire and very proud of it . through all corbys trials and tribulations its still a great place to live and raise a family , corby borough council is second to none caring for all its residents young and old the health service in the town is great ,and the people of corby wherever they originate from come together at times of need , the only thing killing corbys social life is the restrictions in the uk about smoking it is killing the licencing trade and the commaradery felt by its patrons , corby is great always has been and always will be you cannot kill a towns spirit,
Mrs Kidd, Corby, UK

Nice artcile, unfortunately the reality is different. I live 2 years in corby now. You don't want to live in corby. It a big village and always remain a village.
Andrius

The Scots have made a trememdous contribution to Corby and long may they continue.
Eddie Tait, England

I have been reading your local piece on Corby Northamptonshire and im the main I agree. I moved here from Wolverhampton nearly 18 months ago, because of redundancy threats. There is still the bad element in the area and there is racism from some factions towards eastern europeans. I have come across this first hand because half my staff are migrant workers from either Poland/Lithuania/Slovakia or Latvia. Corby is changing on the outside but the undertones are still evident so I think welcomed in the piece should be replaced with accepted as most of the eastern europeans feel a little unwanted. This is not my opinion just the opinion of my staff.

Great stuff, you have a town to be very proud of.
