Queen of the bloggers

Nadine Dorries' blog page

Nadine Dorries MP - Member of Parliament for Mid Bedfordshire - won a prestigious award on Wednesday 23rd May 2007, for the Best Parliamentary Blog.

Conservative Home described Nadine's blog as follows: "This daily dose of raw honesty and emotion has attracted a massive daily following inside and outside of Nadine's constituency.

"Some of her more traditional parliamentary colleagues are secretly jealous.

"Nadine approves many of the comments herself and frequently responds to them (usually with several exclamation marks!!!).

"This blog, essential reading for every Fleet Street diarist and proof that women can excel in the male-dominated blogosphere, will make Nadine more famous than most shadow cabinet members if she continues her mix of insights into the latest episode of Desperate Housewives and what the junior doctors crisis means for patient care.

"More than anything else Nadine's blog is succeeding in demystifying what it means to be an MP".

The award was presented by the website - ConservativeHome - a grassroots website for members and supporters of the Conservative Party.

Visitors to the site voted for Nadine's website to win, beating fellow Conservative Parliamentarians, former Cabinet Minister John Redwood MP & Member of the European Parliament, Daniel Hannan MEP, who is also a columnist at the Daily Telegraph. Nadine is one of less than 10 MPs who blog on a daily basis.

Nadine said, "I am delighted to have won this award and thank all those who visited the Conservative Home website who voted for my blog.

"I only started blogging in October of last year, so I am very surprised that I have won this award.

"I am also keen to encourage more women to join the male dominated world of blogging.

"Blogging is also another way of communicating with my constituents about my work as their Member of Parliament."
