Hunger strike by Cardiff asylum seekers
Asylum seekers
Asylum seekers were growing desperate
"It's getting to the stage now, where I'm saying to myself 'Isn't it better for me to go back to where I'm going to be killed, than being humiliated?' " - the words of an asylum seeker held in prison in Cardiff.

The Home Office says there are about 1,800 imigration detainees. Some 1,100 are in prison, the vast majority of them in the same wings as remand prisoners.

Only a fifth of them are behind bars because they have committed a crime, or are pending deportation.

The asylum seekers in Cardiff became so desperate, that they started a week's hunger strike.

PM's Jon Manel was given special access to the prison to speak to them and compile this exclusive report.
