The policeman
Leyn peninsula
Sergeant Alwyn Thomas has what sounds like an enviable patch - the remote and rugged Lleyn Peninsula - but he is not insulated from the problems of the wider world.

It is not the idyllic life of a country bobby on a bike. No bike, for a start, and Alwyn doesn't have a patrol car either; he navigates the narrow lanes in what he calls the 'community van'

This has a desk, and a cell at the back with space for two.

When Hugh Sykes went to meet him, he found views that will resonate with many a frustrated inner city police officer.
