NSPCC 'letting children down'
Staff have criticised radical changes at the NSPCC
November 20th was " UN Children's Rights Day " and, to mark it, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children called for the appointment of a Children's Commissioner.
The NSPCC has been at the forefront in the defence of children since it was founded in 1884. Millions of children have benefited from its efforts to prevent abuse, through its everyday work, as well as its lobbying to change legislation. However the society was now facing criticism from within. Staff told PM that both they, and the children they care for, were being let down, as the charity made radical, and, they said, destructive changes to its organisation. Richard Miron reported for PM. |
