Britain on the Sick

Panorama meets people on the sick. Will they break the cycle and get into work? BBC One, 8.30pm, Monday 19 May.

The Government claims work is good for your health and aims to get a million people off "the sick" and into work by 2015.

Next Monday Panorama looks at whether the planned reforms are tough enough to make a difference to the 2.6million people currently on incapacity benefit.

Reporter Shelley Jofre asks where are the million jobs needed for these people?

Many have been out of work for years and they often have few, if any, employable skills.

The programme meets people who haven't work for more than 20 years.

Panorama: Britain on the Sick, BBC One 8.30pm Monday 19 May 2008.
