A Panorama Special - London under attack

2215 BST, BBC One

Following a year-long BBC investigation, Peter Taylor explores the terrorist threat.

He reveals why it so difficult to track the people who now conduct attacks like those in London this week.

He charts the significant ways in which al Qaeda has evolved since 9/11 and examines the lessons that are still being learnt from earlier bombings such as those in Madrid last year.

And the programme follows people directly affected by this week's events and gauges some of the reactions amongst the communities in areas around the attacks, some of which have significant Muslim communities within their diverse population.

Peter Taylor answered your questions in a live online video Q&A session on Monday 11 July 2005 at 1600 BST.

The many and varied questions answered include ones about the nature of the threat, what may have driven the the attacks and how the government can best combat terrorism.

Peter Taylor's latest series, "The New Al Qaeda", will be shown on BBC Two starting on 25 July 2005 at 2100 BST

The scheduled Panorama programme "Shock Troops" will now be broadcast at a later date.
