Jeremy Schiffman is an Associate Professor of Public Planning at Syracuse University New York. His research looks at maternal mortality in Honduras in a comparison with Guatemala and to examine the "historical and structural influences on maternal mortality."

UN Population Fund. Reducing maternal mortality if a priority area for the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) which supports safe motherhood interventions in 89 countries, as part of its commitment to reproductive health. This work is facilitated by a strong network of partners, a wealth of experience and a broad presence at individual country level. WHO, UNFPA and Unicef published a global report on maternal mortality in 2003, giving statistical data by region and country.

Marie Stopes International. Marie Stopes International (MSI) works across 38 countries around the world to improve maternal ante- and post- natal and nenatal care at all health systems levels, and assists governments worldwide to assess their maternal health needs

International Planned Parenthood Federation. Founded over 50 years ago, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) now works in over 180 countries worldwide providing sexual and reproductive health information and services, including mother and child health. IPPF campaigns with governments, policy makers and opinion leaders to increase support for sexual and reproductive health and rights and family planning worldwide.

The Alan Guttmacher Institute.The Alan Guttmacher Institute (AGI) is a non-profit organisation focused on sexual and reproductive health research, policy analysis and public education which publishes a range of reports on reproductive health issues, including maternal mortality.
