Sammy Duddy
Sammy Duddy
Sammy Duddy is a retired UDA commander who was brought back with the basic remit of badmouthing Johnny Adair.

He affiliated himself with John "Grugg" Gregg and the other "brigadiers" opposed to Johnny Adair as the feud between loyalist paramilitaries escalated last year.

He will denigrate Adair to almost anyone who will listen and likened him to 'Marlon Brando' to Panorama reporter Kevin Magee - because of his expanding waistline.

But Duddy almost paid the price for coming out of retirement and back into the firing line when he was the victim of a gun attack at his Belfast house last year.

Attack

Two masked men fired shots were fired at his front door he reportedly chased the gunmen down the street, later declaring it as a "cowardly attempt to scare both me and my wife"

But although he escaped unharmed, his pet Chihuahua 'Bambi" was not so lucky, it was hit in the gunfire and later died.

Mr Duddy, a member of the loyalist Ulster Political Research Group and a supporter of the expulsion of Johnny Adair, blamed fellow loyalists for the attack.

He has a colourful past - having spent time as an entertainer - even once having performed for British troops on tour.

But what may be a little more surprising is the nature of Duddy's former night job. He was a drag queen who went by the stage name of Samantha.
