Emmy Myerson
Emmy and her mother
Emmy Myerson needs constant care
Emmy Myerson has confounded doctors and medical science for the past 11 years.

She was never expected to live beyond a few months. But she is now 11.

After she was born, Emmy spent nine months in hospital being tested for a wide range of illnesses, as doctors struggled to find out what was wrong with her.

She has severe physical and mental disabilities and needs constant care. Most of that care is provided by her parents.

However, despite needing care around the clock. Emmy has so far defied conventional medical thinking.

Panorama asks why the families of disabled children appear to have been forgotten
