Evan Davis
Evan Davis has been Economics Editor for the BBC since October 2001.

He covers economic issues on a variety of BBC outputs, especially the Ten O'clock News, reporting events and providing background context.

Evan has won awards from the Industrial Society as Broadcast Journalist of the Year in 1998 and 2001, and he won the Harold Wincott Award as Business Broadcaster of the Year in 2002.

His book Public Spending was published in 1998 and he is co-author of the Penguin Dictionary of Economics and the New Penguin Dictionary of Business (to be published soon).

Evan Davis originally joined the BBC in 1993 as an economics correspondent for BBC Radio. He also appeared on television news and The Money Programme, before moving to Newsnight as its dedicated economics and business correspondent between 1997 and 2001.

Before becoming a broadcaster Evan worked as an economist for the Institute for Fiscal Studies (1984-86 and 1992-93) and the London Business School's Centre for Business Strategy (1988-91).

He read Politics, Philosophy and Economics at St John's College Oxford, where he was editor of the student newspaper Cherwell.

He went on to Harvard where he obtained a Masters Degree in Public Administration.
