SOMETHING TO TELL YOU
BY HANIF KUREISHI
Hanif Kureishi's first novel, The Buddha of Suburbia, published in 1990, took on the themes of sexual identity, class, immigration, politics and London life. Almost two decades later the author revisits these issues with the added context of the rise of Islamism and the 7/7 bombings.
Something to Tell You follows Jamal, a middle aged psychoanalyst and his family as they navigate inner-city life.
Something to Tell You by Hanif Kureishi is published by Faber.
WHITE SEASON, BBC TWO
BBC Two presents a series of unflinching programmes about what it is like to be white and working class in Britain today, our guests will be reviewing two of the programmes:
White Girl
Leah (Holly Kenny) moves across Bradford with her Mum (Anna Maxwell Martin) to escape her drug-dealing step-dad, Stevie (Daniel Mays). She and her siblings find themselves the only white children at their new school. When Stevie turns up again Leah finds refuge from the chaos of her life with the Muslim family next door. She begins to discover a solace in practicing Islam, much to the consternation of her family.
Last Orders
A documentary centred around Wibsey Working Men's Club on the outskirts of Bradford. This programme follows the seemingly inevitable decline of the club alongside the members' feelings of being a forgotten group in modern society and their mourning for a declining way of life.
More details about all programmes in the series on the White Season website.

BANKSY
The true identity of Banksy remains unknown, but his graffiti art continues to appear on the streets of London, Brighton, Bristol, Berlin and the West Bank.
His satirical images have gone from street-corner graffiti to coveted artworks that sell for hundreds of thousands of pounds and he counts the likes of Brad Pitt and Christina Aguilera among his collectors.
The Andipa Gallery in London has brought together a secondary market show of some of Banksy's most iconic creations to produce one of the largest exhibitions ever mounted of his works.
Works by Banksy are on show and also for sale at the Andipa Gallery in London until 29 March 2008.
