La Cage aux Folles
La Cage aux Folles was originally a play by Jean Poiret.
Set in 1970s St Tropez, Georges (Philip Quast) runs a transvestite cabaret club at which his partner of 20 years, Albin (Douglas Hodge), stars nightly.
Their happiness is threatened when Georges' biological son Jean-Michel, whom the couple have raised together, gets engaged and his very conservative future in-laws want to meet his parents.
The musical version followed in 1983 with one of the numbers, "I am what I am", becoming a gay anthem. This revival is directed by Terry Johnson.
