Why Russians find it so difficult to embrace change

Once hailed by the West as the man who would bring sweeping change to Russia, Vladimir Putin instead established a modern autocracy, an autocracy which most Russians have embraced.

Correspondent Rupert Wingfield Hayes, who spent four years reporting in Russia, reports on why Mr Putin is so popular in his country, and why Russians find it so difficult to change.

Broadcast on Wednesday 17 November 2010.
